György Szász

He pursued his studies at Art History Department of the ELTE University, later at the Sculpture Department and the Teacher Training Department of the University of Fine Arts. His tutor was Tamás Körösényi. He earned his doctorate at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts under the guidance of György Jovánovics. He currently teaches art at the Secondary School of Visual Arts and is an assistant professor at the Teacher Training Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. His works have been displayed at group exhibitions since 1994, and his first solo exhibition was in 2002. His sculptures and objects are made with mixed media, and are based on misunderstandings, puns, crosstalk and other everyday phenomena. In 2006 he received a Derkovits Scholarship, followed in 2010 by a Munkácsy Award and a Scholarship from the Hungarian Academy in Rome. Three of his works are in the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.
