István Orosz

graphic artist | 1951, Kecskemét

He graduated in graphic art from the class of István Balogh at the Hungarian College of Applied Arts in 1975. Besides pursuing his autonomous art activity, he also works on graphic design projects, mainly posters and illustrations. He is an elected member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and both art academies in Hungary. He founded the graphic art department at the University of Sopron in 2005. He makes animated cartoons and he is the author of volumes of poetry and prose. Important recognitions: Gold Medal of the Society of Illustrators, USA (2001), Golden Drawing Pin Life Achievement Award (2003), Kossuth Award (2011). His works can be found in numerous collections, including the Deutsche Plakat Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and MOMA. He had a solo exhibition in 2016 at Kunsthalle Budapest.
