Tibor Palkó

painter | 1959, Budapest

He graduated in painting from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in 1985 and completed the institution’s MA programme in 1988. His masters were Lajos Sváby and Ferenc Kis-Tóth. Since 1990, besides paintings, he has made pen and ink drawings, sewing machine drawings, objects and installations individually and as part of the Block group. He has regular solo and group exhibitions. He won the Derkovits Scholarship in 1988 as well as the scholarships awarded by the Hungarian Academy in Rome and the City of Salzburg in 1995 and 1998, respectively. He received the Munkácsy Award in 2005, the grand prize awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Arts in 2014 and the Middle Generation Painting Award of the Hungarian Academy of Arts’ Fine Arts Section in 2019. His works can be found in private collections in Hungary and abroad.
