Attila Mata

He completed his degree in sculpture between 1977 and 1983 at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, under the tutorship of Tamás Vígh. He works with painted wood, bronze, bronze and wood, chrome steel, aluminium, acrylic resin and welded stainless steel plate. His works have been displayed at numerous solo exhibitions in Hungary and elsewhere in Europe. In 1986 he received a Derkovits Scholarship, in 1987 he won 1st prize at the 10th National Small Sculpture Biennial, in 1992 he received a Munkácsy Award, and in 2009 was awarded a Hungart Scholarship. His sculptures feature in the collections of the Hungarian National Gallery, KOGART, the Modern Hungarian Gallery in Pécs, Saint Stephen’s Museum in Székesfehérvár and the Ludwig Forum for International Art in Aachen.
