Éva Mayer

painter | 1983, Bratislava, SK

She graduated in 2008 with a degree in Graphic Art and Visual Education from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where her tutors were Alajos Eszik and Tibor Somorjai-Kiss. She also completed her doctorate studies here in 2018. She works as a cultural manager and curator. Since 2011 she has been the main organiser of her own brainchild, the International Art Colony in Somorja. Since 2014 she has taught at various universities and is currently associate professor at the Media Design Faculty of Budapest Metropolitan University. Her works deal with current societal and sociological problems. She is interested in the formation of graphic art into “spatial graphics”. Her graphic art installations are often location-specific and form an integral part of the space. She has featured in over two hundred Hungarian and international group exhibitions. In 2013 she received a Munkácsy Award. She lives and works in Somorja and Budapest.
