Gábor Nagy

He enrolled in Simon Sarkantyu’s class at the painting department of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in 1967. Erzsébet Vaszkó and Jenő Barcsay exerted a decisive influence on the development of his painting. He was a teacher at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts from 1974, a university docent from 1986 and head of department from 1991 to 1997. In his capacity as president of the Studio of Young Artists’ Association (1979–1984) he initiated and organised several important exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. He is one of the founders of the Csongrád Artists’ Colony. He became the teacher and workshop leader of the NaN-art Drawing School and Graphic Art Workshop in 2011. He has taken part in hundreds of solo and group exhibitions since 1974 from Hungary to the United States. Most important recognitions: Derkovits Scholarship (1975), Munkácsy Award (1980), scholarship awarded by the Cziffra Foundation (1983), Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (2010), Pro Urbe Award Csongrád (2018). His works can be found in prominent public and private collections in Hungary and abroad.
